I needed a place to rant about this thing, because I'm kinda frustrated. Anybody else with DSi thoughts, post away.


"The "i" is symbolic of the subject "I" and its personal aspect.
Plus, the addition of two cameras gives the system its own "eye" on things.

 


Right, because "Wii" was SUCH a brilliant name. It definitely isn't hated and mocked by most of the planet's gaming community for its dumbass i's. Definitely.


"Nintendo hope that the Nintendo DSi becomes more than a game system and more of a personal tool to enrich our daily lives."


Well gee, if you want it to be more than a game system, shouldn't it, oh I don't know, do more than play games? Sure, its got a camera, plays music and has a web browser, but I'm not at all convinced these features even work very well, and I'm pretty sure that they'd be done 20 times better on a digital camera, ipod or blackberry. So thanks but no thanks, I'm giving these features a couple years to develop. We all know the DSii will be coming out around then.


I want a DS that has these features, but I don't want it halfway. I will NEVER listen to music on a DS, for example, unless it can completely replace my ipod.


Anybody else have DSi thoughts to share?

I'd listen to music on a DSi because I don't have an iPod because I don't care enough to waste upwards of a hundred dollars on music I could listen to free on my computer.

Admittantly, the DSi is a half-hearted attempt at a "mainstream" multimedia device. I imagine it's just to test the waters, really - would people buy a console/mp3 player/camera/phone/browser from Nintendo? Would they actually use the other software?

I'm interested to see what the future of this idea is.

Me? Probably for the free Net service and the moving Memo Pad. If I can get some Nintendo Points, heck, I'm getting WarioWare: Snapped.

The cameras don't get me jumping with joy(0.3 megapixel? That's low) and I can already listen to music on a billion other places(my comp, my DVD drive, MY CURRENT DS), so the extra fluff isn't what I'm after.

Dude, the camera is just for taking a pic and then editing it so it looks funny. Its not for use as an actual camera.

I'm flat out not gonna buy this.

NINTENDO DSi UPDATE!!!
If you haven't already know The DSi is coming out in teh US in Blue and Black!!! NO WHITE, but you get this very nice blue that is exclusive to teh US vertion!

I've seen the DSiWare. Ninty seems to be putting more effort into this than WiiWare.

Ninty also has pink, blue and greenish/yellowish/snot/pee colors for Japan.

Only if one of the following things happens:

1. DG wins the lottery (without entering the lottery).
2. DG inherits a private island estate.
3. DG discovers that in these economic times, the less money you have the richer you are.
