Okay, here's the works. PSP had 3 models. The original PSP, PSP Slim/Lite and the newly released PSP-3000. Each one had the same features, played the same games, only with a slightly changed battery life and screen resolution. In other words, just a simple redesign.

If they're ditching the UMD drive, I don't know what would happen. It's not like portable devices can remain portable if they use standard size DVDs

It took the PSP WAY too long to decide what it wanted to be. By the time it decided on "handheld game console" everyone had a DS and no one cared.

No. It's not that at all. I know Microsoft fanboys who prefer the DS. The PSP just doesn't have good games unless you're an obsessive, fanfic writing preteen who likes to fantasize about himself in uncanny anime worlds with generic, spiky haired characters and their unrealistic relationships and cardboard traits.
