OF COURSE they need US names. I mean, Pokemon is pretty much just a series built on crappy puns. Fushigidane doesn't make a good pun to the English-speaking world. Bulbasaur does.

But sometimes they sound terrible. So even if they sound just as bad to a japanese speaker, they don't to someone who doesn't speak japanese.

Alright, they do need english names. You're right about that. But Turtwig? Come on...
