Yes we do! There's people out there who don't give a **** about new games (me, people like the AVGN), and vice versa. It will make everything a bit more organized. Retro is anything below 2001. I think it's a smart move.
Come on Pokefreak. Come back back your Uncle up! I think dividing the two would be a great idea. One can focus more on "Upcoming games and game ideas", while the other focuses on games from the past. Maybe I should have been more clear.
Like, for example, someone wants to make a topic - "What's your favorite Pokemon?" let's say. Where does that go? Current games and future game - which makes sense, for competative battling, GSDS and future hopes (DUDE DUNSPARCE NEEDS AN EVO!) - or past games, for the nostalgic minded?
I see what you mean, but I still stand by what I said. I just want to prevent that board from flooding, as games are obviously our focal point. Games Retro and Games General? Hmmmmm...
And we'll deal with it when it comes. Subforums or stickies or whatever.
At the moment, though, we need to figure out a forum that WORKS, not one that's PERFECT. "Less is more" seems ideal at the moment; any more than five or six real forums seems like overkill.
If we're going to be a general gaming forum, the games board have to be split one way or the other. I've been meaning to put them into 2 or 3 different boards for a while now, but I wasn't sure how that would work out. Now I can. The 5-Star Hall can be replaced with another game board. If toadster wants a retro board, I'm fine with that.
N5Star it is then. I can tone down the cute, but I live off of it. You can't expect me to get rid of it altogether. Sometimes cute can be a good thing. It's the word you associate with many Nintendo fans. Pokemon, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Mario, stuff like that. A colorful board would look more appealing, IMO. Classy and sleek has been done by, I dunno, a million other forums. Let's be different.
Don't classify 'series' as current or retro, toadster. You can put Pokemon Blue/Red into retro, but not Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen. Classify them based on the games themselves, unless it's already official that the series no longer exists.
Well, word choice-wise, that does seem a lot better, and it even means the same thing. Lighthearted it is then.
About the memes, keep the ones that we've been using for a while. Just DON'T TAKE IT OUR OF RANDOM. I think I've said that since the day we moved into Sparklit, but no one bothered.
Mmm. Mario, Zelda (half the time), Pokemon, Kirby - they can certainly be cute, but a defining word across them is lighthearted. They're not dark and gritty, they're bright and happy. They know they're fun games about silly characters. We should keep that feeling.
And memes and jokes are alright... to an extent. No one word responses. No "no u" or anything like that. Think of it like this - if this post will contribute to discussion or make a point, it's alright. If not, it won't.
'No u' is fine, but on the Random board ONLY. [Click here to..], x*insert number here*, I WIN!!!, Boobs also need to stay there. 'wat' is fine, but not too many times.
And while we're on the topic, 'Meadow' gives an idea of a wide open space with lots of ground. Keep that name. Maybe split it into other nature-themed areas to discuss about different categories of games, retro, current or otherwise.
...and, before we get into the nitty gritty, if possible - make it so that posts in the Random Board DO NOT add to one's post count. It's just... it'll make things better, trust me.
